Transform sketches, wireframes, and silhouettes into high-resolution renders while locking exact contours
Follow a three-step workflow to extract clean edge maps and render high-resolution imagery locked to your composition.
Explore how fine-tuned edge detection and flexible parameter controls deliver structural precision across every generation.
A gallery of high-resolution renders illustrating edge-guided compositions across industrial design, fashion, and cinematic stills.
See how designers, architects, and visual artists use edge guidance to turn sketches and silhouettes into production-ready assets.
SDXL Canny ControlNet is best for colorizing line-art sketches, rendering architectural mockups, stylizing logos, and staging products where the physical silhouette must remain identical while altering materials or environments. It extracts sharp structural boundaries from your control image to ensure generations follow your exact contours.
Clean, high-contrast images with well-defined silhouettes and minimal background noise produce the cleanest edge maps. Cluttered or low-contrast reference images cause the Canny detector to pick up unwanted background lines, which can lead to messy artifacts in the generated output.
Start with the default control scale of 0.5 for a natural balance between structural guidance and prompt creativity. Increase the scale to 0.8–1.0 for strict geometry like typography or branding marks, or reduce it to 0.3–0.4 for softer, more flexible interpretations. Keep guidance scale (CFG) between 5.0 and 7.5 to prevent oversaturation.
Avoid Canny ControlNet when you need loose artistic style transfers, fluid organic movement, or depth-based volumetric variations. In those cases, Depth or Scribble ControlNet architectures are better suited because Canny strictly enforces surface edge lines.
