Unlike generative diffusion upscalers that invent new textures, Crisp Upscale strictly respects the geometry, lines, and colors of your original input.
It performs best on flat graphic design assets, vector-style illustrations, typography, logos, and UI iconography. It sharpens edges, eliminates pixelation, and cleans up color boundaries while preserving high text legibility.
Avoid using Recraft Upscale on organic, textured photography like portraits or nature shots where you need realistic micro-details like skin pores or hair. Additionally, avoid uploading images with transparent backgrounds, because the process flattens transparency to a solid background. If you need a transparent PNG, remove the background after upscaling.
Provide a raster image (PNG format is recommended for line preservation) with dimensions between 256px and 4096px and a total resolution under 16 megapixels. If your image contains heavy compression artifacts, note that the tool will faithfully sharpen those artifact edges rather than smoothing them away.
